Comparison
Anvil vs Stackbase
Stackbase rents you a device by the minute. Anvil lets you bring your own fleet, rent ours when you need to, and stops charging by the clock.
Stackbase built a rental device farm: you queue for a device, hold it for the duration of your test session, and pay per minute it's in your possession. At fleet scale it's a subscription to someone else's hardware bottleneck.
Anvil starts from the opposite premise: the test devices you already own are the fastest, cheapest, most representative devices you'll ever have. The orchestrator discovers them, registers them, and queues runs against them — same dashboard, same replays, same agent runtime. When you need iOS 16.0.2 on the specific SoC you don't own, rent from our shared pool.
The pricing follows: per run, not per minute. A six-minute flaky run costs the same as a forty-six-minute smoke. Your finance team can forecast.

Why teams switch to Anvil
- Teams at portfolio scale (50+ apps, 200+ devices) see their test-infra bill drop by roughly an order of magnitude after moving from per-minute rental to BYOD with Anvil.
- Real devices you already own catch bugs that cloud-virtualized devices paper over — carrier billing flows, StoreKit sheets, AppAttest, device-check entitlements.
- The device JWT handshake means every run is provably against a registered device, not a shared tenant — important for regulated industries.
- When you do need a device you don't own (iPad Pro 12.9 with M4, specific carrier SKU), the rental is a flag, not a migration.
